Cultural Insights for Fiduciaries
Serving Chinese Families
Program Summary
Cultural competence is essential for building trust and working effectively with clients and families from different backgrounds. Jeremy and Jared, who both grew up in Chinese households, will explore the diversity among Chinese immigrants based on when they arrived and where they come from. They will discuss how culture shapes interactions with Chinese families, family roles and dynamics, language barriers, customs that can strengthen relationships, and traditions surrounding death and burial. The session will also cover cultural views on medical issues and disabilities, as well as topics such as latchkey kids and real estate. Drawing on personal experiences, the presenters will invite attendees to share their own lessons learned.
